I'm moved by your embrace of change. Do you ever feel the dizziness that comes with the changing seasons? I feel as though sometimes the constant change makes me nauseous - can't some things just be eternal?

I think I felt that in South Bend, but more so because the expectations of the seasons meant nothing to Mother Nature. It would snow in the fall. It would be freezing in the spring. The unpredictability of it was dizzying. A parka one day and a sundress the next…

Wow Kiera, I loved reading this, it is so beautifully written and I love that you are tuning into the subtleties of the Californian seasons. I also love what you say about how the seasonal shifts relate to your own evolution, being part of it and witness to it, expansive and small. Here for the paradoxes!

One of the most special parts of your writing is your explanation of the practices that keep you aligned with elemental change. As someone very wise once wrote: “A subtle shift signalling that we were approaching a threshold, moving from growth to gathering, and despite the lingering light, I began to hear the first whisperings to turn inwards once again.” 🤍
