If you’re anything like me, you check your bank’s app every day. If you’re anything like me, it hurts to pull your credit card from your wallet and tap it against a screen. If you’re anything like me, you track everything you spend down to the penny (see what I did there?!). Even if you’re nothing like me (which, by the way, congratulations), you might be interested in the following: an expense report from my roadtrip.
Many of the reasons I decided to drive instead of fly home were because of how much cheaper I anticipated it being. Moving is no cheap endeavor, yet I figured I could probably save a little money if I didn’t fly.
And I was right.
As seen above, I was expecting saving just under one thousand dollars if I were to drive instead of fly. Plus with the few of you who signed up as monthly subscribers, I almost made a profit with the roadtrip. Heavy emphasis on the word almost.
I was very lucky because of the generosity of family and friends who let Cameron and I sleepover during our journey. I only paid for one night in a hotel at a Super 8 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. I am also very lucky because we ended up driving through the part of the United States where the gas prices aren’t sickening. At its cheapest, we found gas for 2.18 a gallon. Too bad I didn’t have large fuel containers to bring home with me.
Overall, I ended up saving even more money because of the low gas prices and because our favorite stops were McDonald’s and Arby’s. In total, I spent 782.48 dollars. Costly, but not bad considering I literally traveled from one end of the country to another. Need I remind you:
782.48 dollars. If 195 more of you become paid monthly subscribers, I would break even. Here, I’ll make it easy:
Just kidding! Kind of.
More to come from this trip soon!
Until next time,
Kiera
