Returning to the pen...
Welcoming back the practice of writing with some photos of my time away from it.
It has been a whirlwind of a month. I finished my finals, I celebrated with my class during an eventful senior week, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. Thank you for the space to celebrate with my loved ones. It was nice to take a step back from writing, although it was also unexpectedly difficult to return to it.
Writing is not always my friend. Sometimes writing is an insurmountable mountain that goads me, taunts me, wills me to move yet seems to stand in my way. In the past week I’ve felt overwhelmed by the volume of things - events, people, worries - that need a companionable pen. The pen memorializes the excitement of the past month yet also alleviates the worries of the next one. And yet the pen has seemed so far away.
Far enough away that I’m taking baby steps to find it again. One step at a time to return to the thing that I’ve delightfully abandoned as I live in fullness.
