Gratitude Journal 4.26
Mostly being a puppy-mom.
04.13 - With Cameron out of town for the week on a work trip, I’m abundantly grateful for my former roommate and lifetime best friend Laurie who came to help take care of Daisy. I can tell she already misses her fun aunt!
04.14 - When I tragically locked myself out of the apartment while on a grocery run, Amanda, the secretary from our leasing office, saved me from a very expensive locksmith bill. Reuniting with Daisy was also the most rewarding feeling ever.
04.15 - I just started John Fugelsang’s “Separation of Church and Hate” which is a refreshing shift in perspective on scripture, the church, and communal faith. I appreciate his take as a parishioner who struggles with some of the teachings of the Catholic Church.
04.16 - Shelving books. There’s something about seeing them come and seeing them go that just gets me going. Plus, it’s extremely satisfying when they fit on the shelf perfectly without you having to shift anything.
04.17 - Sometimes Daisy steals my blanket just so she can sleep comfortably beside me. As someone who’s always cold, she’s the only one I’d ever share a blanket with!
04.18 - I’ve become ever more grateful for intermittent naps as they save me from less than seven hours of sleep per night.
04.19 - There are few cloudy days in Phoenix, Arizona. Today was one of the few since we arrived, and I'm weirdly grateful for the clouds on my drive home, the sun peeking through their magnificent form.
04.20 - Although only at the bookstore for a little over a month, I interviewed for a new job today. I also got forty dollars in staff credit when I turned in old books as a part of their trade program. Glad to be a part of an organization that values used books and upward mobility!
04.21 - My little snuggle bug with her little snuggle bug (my former stuffie!).
04.22 - When she treasures my discarded pillow for comfort at bedtime, my heart melts.
04.23 - Coming out of the web of sleep deprivation and sickness to celebrate my fluffy, crazy little family! Gratitude is easy again.
04.24 - I got the new job! Excited to learn more, be challenged, and contribute in a greater way to my community.
04.25 - Ocean 44’s food!!! Seafood as fresh as if just caught, as tasty as anything that has ever encountered my tongue, and when you get a free bread basket to take home because of the generosity of the waiter, the meal is That. Much. Better!
04.26 - A mid morning nap after waking up to catch up on the most elusive thing these days — sleep!
04.27 - One of the great privileges of my job is getting to read books early — sometimes as early as six months early. And I have the new Emily St John Mandel in my hands; the most beautiful cover for a so-far engrossing mystery!
04.28 - I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, but it kinda feels like a big deal to have five-hundred followers in TikTok. I’m in disbelief that that many people care about what I have to say about books but I’m grateful to have a platform to share my passions.
04.29 - We’re just a few days away from Daisy’s final vaccination at which point she can be a normal dog and go on long walks with Mommy. It has been a long two months cooping her up inside to protect her from the dangers of her species and I’m so excited to show her more of this glorious world!
04.30 - She really is the most precious when she’s sleeping. Especially during her puppy dreams where she switches, growls, and squirms!
More Daisy content to come,
Kiera
