An Ode to Distances Long and Hearts Near
They say distance makes the heart grow fonder but only insofar as a heart can beat three thousand miles per minute.
What I didn’t realize when entering a long distance relationship for the first time—when the decision was a leaf in the wind, as inconsequential as anything I’d ever waltzed into—and then for the second time—when the decision felt like a bloodied sacrifice on God’s altar—and then for the third, fourth, and thousands of times since—is what I’d have to get used to.
